Arthritis & Joint Pain Treatments

Personalized Arthritis & Joint Pain Treatments

Joint pain and arthritis can affect how you work and move. They may also change the way you enjoy your daily activities. Premier Care Physiotherapy focuses on practical, individualized Arthritis & Joint Pain Treatments that build from where you are. The clinic combines one-on-one therapy, small-group neuromuscular exercises (GLA:D), as well as in-house support, such as bracing and custom foot orthotics. It also offers medical acupuncture and massage therapy. With a plan and clear checkpoints, the goal is to guide you from symptom control toward stronger, more confident movements.

A detailed assessment is usually the first step of your visit. Clinicians will review your medical history, discuss with you your goals and assess your joint mobility, strength and balance as well as functional movements like sitting to standing, walking and stair climbing. A plan may be outlined, which includes education, graded exercises, and orthopedic manual therapy with joint mobilization. Pain-modulating tools, such as IMS, tape, or modalities (e.g. traction, laser, or acupuncture), can be used to enhance participation in movement. As you progress, the intensity, frequency and type of exercise are adjusted in accordance with your goals and tolerance.

The GLA:D (Good Life with OsteoArthritis From Denmark) program provides a structured, evidence-based approach to hip and knee osteoarthritis. Over 12 sessions (two per session for six weeks), a small group (typically three to four participants) completes a circuit that targets core stability, postural controls, leg strength and function. This is paired with self-management education. Warm-ups and cool-downs are included in the sessions, as well as coaching on form and regular check-ins. The outcomes are tracked over time at three-month and 12-month intervals to demonstrate changes and inform the next steps. GLA:D has been reported to offer significant benefits to participants, including reduced pain and symptoms and increased activity levels.

The most common treatment areas include osteoarthritis of the hip, knee, shoulder and spine (including sciatica), neck and back pain, knee instability and recovery from hip replacements and fractures. When needed, individuals with inflammatory arthritis can receive support focusing on joint protection, strengthening, and functional goals. This is coordinated with the broader healthcare team. The plan will be realistic and sustainable if you can adapt your movement strategies, pacing and footwear to your daily routine.
