In today’s digital world, most of us will spend a working day behind a screen, sitting at a desk from 9 to 5. While you’re busy making a living, don’t forget to take care of your back and neck that can result in pain and discomfort.

Our chiropractor team can help you experience relief from your physical stress and help improve your posture and further advise you on mobile exercises you can do throughout the day to strengthen your muscles. Our physiotherapy clinic can improve the daily physical conditions that you may be experiencing from sitting stagnant that can result in sleep deprivation, short-term memory and a fatigued memory.

Are you sitting for an extended period of time?

Working professionals, such as yourself, use multiple monitors, writing surfaces, laptops and devices for 40 hours a week, sometimes even more. Poor posture can arise from trying to control all devices, whether it’s slouching in your chair, leaning forward putting your neck in jeopardy, or sitting in an awkward position for too long. These positions are likely the cause of your ligaments and tendons putting too much pressure on your spinal discs.

Sitting for a long period of time without stretching or walking around can lead to the compressions of your intervertebral discs that can put a large pressure on your spinal nerve. Our physiotherapy services range from registered massage therapy to chiropractic treatments to intramuscular stimulation that can enhance your posture and mobility through a series of sessions.

What are some effective ways of reducing chronic pain at work?

If you want to prevent or manage some of the symptoms you may be feeling during your workday, you can consider the following tips to decrease your discomfort:

Choose an adjustable office chair – Implementing the right chair can play a significant role in the promotion of proper posture. Choosing a chair with the right lumbar support that supports the lower back will relieve some of the tension and strain on your back. Additionally, you can also choose a desk chair that allows you to adjust it properly so that your elbows and hands are sitting at a comfortable angle throughout the day.

Take frequent short breaks – When working for eight hours a day at a desk, it’s important to take small breaks and move around to get the blood circulation flowing. You can try stretching your back and legs at least once every hour, and if that is not possible, aim for three times during the workday. Getting yourself moving can help your body release the excess tension that it has been holding, and provide you with fast pain relief that arises from sitting in a chair.

Rest your feet flat on the ground – While you may be experiencing chronic pain in your back, getting enough foot support while working is essential to enhancing enhanced blood circulation. If your feet don’t reach the floor, use a box pile of books or a footrest, instead of letting them dangle – this puts pressure under the thighs which will restrict blood flow to the lower legs.
